M8 Softail Fitment

M8 Softail covers '18-'26 - Street Bob, Fat Bob, Low Rider S and ST, Fat Boy, Heritage, Breakout, Sport Glide and Softail Slim. Every M8 is throttle-by-wire, so cable-throttle grips and controls do not apply.

Years that change what fits:

2018 - the M8 Softail replaced both the Twin Cam Softail and the Dyna on an all-new frame.

Worth knowing: FXDR and FXDRS are M8 Softails despite the FXD letters, FLXRST is the Low Rider ST and FLXRS the Low Rider S, and FLHC and FLSB are Softails rather than Touring bikes.

Know Your Gearbox

Harley Big Twins ran a five-speed through 2006 and moved to the six-speed Cruise Drive for 2007 on Touring and Dyna; those two gearboxes share very little. The Sportster runs its own unit-construction transmission entirely. Clutch work has its own trap: a clutch that grips harder often needs stiffer springs, and stiffer springs mean a heavier lever pull unless the kit is designed around it.
