The Baker Direct Drive 7-Speed Gear Set replaces the factory Cruise Drive 6-speed in '17-'22 M8 models with a seven speed that slides in without case work.
A seventh gear is not about going faster. It is about having somewhere useful to put the torque an M8 produces, and about closing the gaps between the gears you already use. Baker shortened first, tightened everything above it, and added an overdrive on top, so acceleration stays continuous from first through fourth instead of arriving in steps.
How the DD7 Gear Set Is Built
The stock mainshaft carries first through fourth gear. The DD7 mainshaft carries only the small first gear, which makes it substantially lighter and is the reason shift clunk drops noticeably. A linear roller ball detent in the supplied billet top cover handles engagement, and shift feel is where that shows up. Door bearings are 28 percent wider than stock. Everything is made in the USA.
It arrives ready to slide into the bike: no case modification, no shimming of the gear set, no adjustment. The stock shifter pawl is reused.

Before You Order the DD7
⚠️ VERIFY your model year and engine displacement against Baker's current fitment guide before ordering. The vendor bullet copy for this product references 96, 103 and 110 cubic inch motors, which are Twin Cam displacements rather than M8, so confirm the correct gear set for your specific motor before purchase.
