FXR Fitment

FXR covers '82-'94 - FXR, FXRS, FXRT, FXRP and the '99-'00 FXR2, FXR3 and FXR4. The FXR is cable throttle and carbureted, so no throttle-by-wire or Milwaukee-Eight part applies.

Years that change what fits:

1994 - the original FXR run ended; the FXR2, FXR3 and FXR4 were built in limited numbers for '99 and '00.

Why You Need One

A stock ECM is calibrated for the stock intake and exhaust. Open either one up and the mixture goes lean, which costs you the power you just paid for and runs the motor hotter than it should. Tuners come in two broad types: a piggyback that modifies the signal to the stock ECM, and a replacement ECM that takes over entirely. Auto-tune systems correct themselves as you ride using a wideband oxygen sensor; others need a map loaded or a dyno session.
