Gloves

Why Gloves Matter

Hands go out first in a crash - it is reflex, and nothing you can train out. A glove with real palm material between you and the road is doing a job that no amount of care makes unnecessary.

Beyond that they earn their place every ride: grip when your hands sweat, protection from wind chill and sun, and less vibration coming through the bars on a long day.

Choosing A Pair

Leather offers the best abrasion resistance and molds to your hand over time. Textile and mesh breathe better in heat. Look for reinforcement at the palm and the outside edge of the hand, and check whether the cuff goes over or under a jacket sleeve.

Fit should be snug with no bunched material in the palm and full movement in the fingers - a loose glove twists on the bar and costs you feel at the levers. Sizing runs differently between makers, so use each brand's own chart.
