Softail Fitment

Softail covers '84-'17 - FXST, FLSTF Fat Boy, FLSTC Heritage, FXSTB Night Train, FLS Slim and FXSB Breakout. These are cable-throttle bikes. 2018 and up is the M8 Softail, a different platform - see M8 Softail Parts.

Years that change what fits:

• 2000 - the Softail took the Twin Cam, a year after Touring and Dyna.
• 2018 - the Milwaukee-Eight Softail replaced both the Softail and the Dyna on a new frame.

How Much Extra Do You Need

Kits are sold by how much rise they accommodate over stock, so measure the actual rise difference rather than going by the bar's advertised height - pullback changes the cable path too. Stock cables will usually stretch an inch or two without complaint; beyond that you get a brake line under tension at full lock, a clutch that will not fully disengage, or wiring pulled out of a connector. Throttle-by-wire bikes need the wiring extension rather than throttle cables.
