Barnett's conversion from a single diaphragm spring to six coil springs, with a billet pressure plate and three pressure options.
A diaphragm spring gives you one clamping force and no say in it. Barnett's kit replaces it with a CNC machined billet pressure plate carrying six coil springs, and supplies two sets of springs so you can run three different pressure combinations. That is the real point of the conversion: you set clamping force to match what the motor makes instead of accepting the factory compromise. Six springs also apply that force at six evenly spaced points rather than one, which is what smooths out engagement and makes the release predictable.

Clutch Spring Conversion Kit Fitment
Two versions. Choose by which clutch actuation your bike has.
- '99-'17 Harley-Davidson Twin Cam with a hydraulic clutch, except models with the slipper or assist clutch
- '99-'17 Harley-Davidson Twin Cam with a mechanical cable clutch
⚠️ VERIFY hydraulic or cable, and whether your bike has an assist and slip clutch, before ordering. Harley-Davidson used all three arrangements across this range and the pressure plates are not interchangeable.
Common Questions About the Spring Conversion Kit
Do I have to replace my clutch plates?
No. The kit uses the stock hub, shell and plates. It changes how they are clamped, not what is clamped.
Which spring combination should I run?
Start with the lightest that holds your motor without slipping. Extra spring pressure beyond that only buys you a heavier lever.
Will the lever get heavier?
It depends on which of the three combinations you set. That choice is exactly what the kit gives you over a diaphragm spring.
Works With
A heavier spring loads the release side harder, so consider the BAKER Heavy Duty Throwout Bearing Kit on a cable clutch bike.
