The FXR, And Why Parts Are Scarcer

Harley built the FXR from 1982 to 1994 - the FXR, FXRS, FXRT and the police FXRP - with a limited FXR2, FXR3 and FXR4 run for '99 and '00. It is a rubber-mounted Evolution Big Twin on a frame many riders still consider the best chassis Harley ever built, and that reputation is why the aftermarket still supports a bike that went out of production three decades ago.

Coverage is naturally thinner than for current platforms, and it is strongest where you would expect: contact points, wind protection and the pieces a rider replaces on a bike that is being kept on the road rather than restored to stock.

Before You Order

The FXR is cable throttle and carbureted, so nothing listed for throttle-by-wire or a Milwaukee-Eight applies. A word on model codes: FLXRS is the Low Rider S and FLXRST the Low Rider ST - both are modern M8 Softails, not FXRs, despite how the letters read. Many Evo Big Twin engine parts are shared with the Softail, Dyna and Touring bikes of the same era, which is why you will see fitment ranges written as "'84-'99 Evo Big Twin" rather than by chassis.
