The oil pump features separate scavenge sections for the flywheel cavity and cam chest, allowing for more efficient oil scavenging with no interference. Designed to tolerate greater pinion shaft runout, the gerotors are protected by a magnetic trap to prevent damage from metal debris. The cam support plate includes a bronze pinion shaft bushing and replaceable bronze cam bushings, ensuring durability and serviceability. The adjustable oil pressure regulator allows fine-tuning without removing the plate, and the 99-06 model is equipped to handle late-style hydraulic cam chain tensioners for better valve train control at high RPMs.
