A Sportster seat has to do two jobs that fight each other: hold the rider still under acceleration, and stay comfortable an hour later. The Step-Up handles the first with a raised rear step and a high lumbar section that stops you sliding back, and the second with a GelCore interior over Ultra-Foam. The foam matters more than it sounds. Saddlemen's molding process skins the outside of the foam as it forms, sealing water out, which is why these hold their shape rather than going soft and soggy after a wet season.

Step-Up Seat Fitment

Fits '04-'22 Harley-Davidson XL Sportster with the 3.3 gallon tank, and '10-'22 XL1200X Forty-Eight with the 2.1 gallon tank.

Does not fit the '21-'22 Sportster S RH1250S or the '22 Nightster RH975.

Stitch Patterns

Five patterns, each in black or brown: front tuck-n-roll, front tuck-n-roll with rear lattice stitch, front lattice stitch, rear lattice stitch, and full lattice stitch.

Common Questions About the Step-Up Seat

Which tank do I have?
The 3.3 gallon is the standard Sportster tank. The 2.1 gallon peanut tank is what the XL1200X Forty-Eight runs. This seat covers both, but not the RH platform bikes.

What does GelCore actually do?
It sits inside the foam rather than on top of it, so you get the pressure spreading of gel without the seat feeling loose. Saddlemen pairs it with Ultra-Foam so the seat keeps its shape.

Will it fit a Sportster S or Nightster?
No. Those are the RH1250S and RH975 and they are a different platform entirely.
