Race Tech Gold Valve Fork Emulators make damping rod forks behave like tuned cartridge forks, using a tunable valve that sits on top of the damping rod.

Damping rod forks control fluid through fixed holes, which means damping rises with speed whether you want it to or not. That is why a stock front end feels harsh over sharp bumps and vague over long ones. An emulator replaces that fixed orifice behavior with a real valve, and the difference is the single largest improvement available to a damping rod front end.

How the Gold Valve Emulators Work

The valves drop in on top of the damping rods and are held in place by the main fork springs, so nothing needs welding, drilling or machining. Once in, compression damping becomes tunable: preload and orifice settings can be changed to suit road surface, riding pace and rider weight. That means the fork can be dialed rather than accepted, and re-dialed later if your riding changes.

Fitting the Gold Valve Emulators
