JIMS oil pump alignment tool for the Milwaukee-Eight, so the pump goes back on centred instead of by feel.
The M8 oil pump has to be concentric with the cam support plate before it is torqued down, and a pump pulled off centre is one of the ways a fresh cam chest ends up with low oil pressure. JIMS built this tool to remove the guesswork. It gives the technician two ways to work: assemble the components individually using the supplied studs, or build the cam plate and pump as one assembly on the alignment dowel and fit it in a single operation. The second way is the reason shops buy it, because it takes real time out of the job.

Common Questions About the Alignment Tool
Do I really need a tool for this?
If you want the oil pressure the motor is supposed to make, yes. The pump has to be centred on the cam support plate before it is torqued, and there is no reliable way to eyeball it.
Is this a one-time-use tool?
No. It is a service tool and it comes back out once the cam chest is assembled.
Does it work on a Twin Cam?
No. This one is cut for the Milwaukee-Eight cam chest. JIMS makes separate tooling for Twin Cam oil pumps.
