Direct Drive 6-Speed Gear Set / '01-'06 Bagger

The Baker Direct Drive 6-Speed Gear Set adds an overdrive sixth gear inside the existing 5-speed cases of an '01-'06 bagger, in a black finish.

A touring bike spends most of its life at highway speed, and a 5-speed leaves the motor turning harder there than it needs to. Baker's answer keeps the transmission cases in the bike and changes what is inside them, adding a .86:1 sixth on top of a 3.24:1 first. Cruising rpm drops, and the vibration that comes with it drops too.

How the Baker Gear Set Is Built

Gears are cut from 8620 steel before heat treating, then precision ground with diamond coated tooling, which is what produces quiet running rather than a transmission you hear over the exhaust. All are full width Baker ground gears, and fourth, fifth and sixth are helical cut for silent operation. The bearing door is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and uses wider bearings with retainer plates instead of stock style snap rings. A Redundant Neutral Smooth Shift System handles engagement.
