The Baker Direct Drive 6-Speed Gear Set for '99-'00 Big Twins adds an overdrive sixth inside the existing 5-speed cases, in a black finish.

The '99 and '00 model years sit at a specific point in Harley history: the Twin Cam had arrived, but the six speed had not. That leaves these bikes with a modern motor turning highway rpm through a five speed. Baker's gear set closes that gap without replacing the transmission, and it covers both the FL touring models and the FXR of those two years.

How the Baker Gear Set Is Built

Gears are cut from 8620 steel before heat treating, then precision ground with diamond coated tooling. That sequence is what produces a quiet transmission rather than one you hear over the exhaust. All gears are full width Baker ground gears, with fourth, fifth and sixth helical cut for silent operation. The bearing door is 6061-T6 aluminum, running wider bearings with retainer plates rather than stock style snap rings.
