The derby cover sits directly over the clutch, which is where a lot of primary heat collects on a Milwaukee-Eight in traffic. Performance Machine cuts the Race Series face with a machined race pattern that adds surface area, so it dissipates heat more efficiently than the flat stock cover while giving the primary the race inspired look the rest of the Race Series carries. The Black Ops finish is gloss black machined over a textured black base, so the pattern reads as contrast rather than paint. Hardware and gasket are in the box.

• '16-'23 Harley-Davidson FLHT, FLHR, FLHX, FLTRX, FLHTCUTG, FLRT and FLTRT, plus '15 FLHTCUL and FLHTKL
• '18 Harley-Davidson FLSB, '19-'23 Softail, and '18 Softail with the narrow profile primary cover

⚠️ VERIFY which primary cover is on an '18 Softail before ordering. Harley-Davidson ran both profiles that year, and the derby cover is cut to the primary, not to the model year.

Common Questions About the Race Series Derby Cover

Is a gasket included?
Yes, along with the mounting hardware. Fit the new gasket; a reused derby gasket is the usual cause of a weeping primary.

Does it really run cooler?
The machined face carries more surface area than the flat stock cover, which is what Performance Machine's heat dissipation claim rests on. It is a cover, not a cooling system, so treat it as a small improvement with a large visual one.

Will it match the rest of my Black Ops parts?
