The cam chest is the one job where buying parts individually most often goes wrong, because the oil pump, plate and cams all have to agree with each other. These kits settle that by replacing the whole assembly at once with components engineered together. Gear Drive or Chain Drive

Gear drive removes the cam chain entirely, which removes chain failure from the list of things that can end a motor. Chain drive keeps the chain but adds S&S Hydraulic Cam Chain Tensioners, improving valve timing consistency and extending chain life. Gear drive is the answer for peace of mind; chain drive balances performance against cost and is quieter by nature.
