What Is In This Collection
Camshafts for the Evolution Big Twin as fitted to the FXR, across the range of grinds. Mild bolt-in cams that work with stock valve springs through to higher-lift performance cams, plus cam bearings, cam gears, and the gaskets and seals that come apart with the cam cover.
The FXR ran the Evo Big Twin for its whole production life, so Evo cams and FXR cams are the same conversation. A cam listed for the '84 to '99 Evo Big Twin is the cam for your FXR.
Choosing A Cam
A cam is the cheapest large change you can make to how an Evo runs, and the easiest one to get wrong. The grind has to suit what the rest of the motor can do. A big cam on stock heads, stock compression and a stock exhaust usually gives back less than a mild one, and it moves the power to revs a heavy cruiser rarely sees.
Check lift against your valve springs and your rocker box clearance. A cam that lifts further than the stock springs allow needs springs to match, and past a point it needs the pushrods checked too. The manufacturer states the supporting parts each grind assumes, and that statement is worth reading before ordering.
